Bi-Concave Lenses

Bi-concave lens has concave lenses on both sides, similar to a plano-concave lens, and is a lens with a negative focal length. Diffusing parallel incident light outward, biconcave lenses have equal radii of curvature on both sides, and they are used to diffuse incident light or to increase the focal length of an existing optical system.

The image created by a biconcave lens is always a smaller, upright, virtual image of the object, so biconcave lenses are mainly used to correct myopia. In addition, they can be used in beam expanding and projection systems.
